Take a photo with Petros the Pelican
The first Peter was discovered in 1950 by a fisherman. The pelican had been hit by a storm and after the care of the inhabitants was adopted by the people of Chora. Today there are three pelicans named Petros who live in the port and are mascots for the place.
Visit the Rarity Gallery
A small art gallery with free entrance to the center of Chora, with friendly and supportive staff and exciting works that enliven the imagination. It was founded in 1994 and is divided into five rooms, each with a separate thematic area.
Make an excursion to Ano Mera
If you are interested in religious history, you may enjoy an excursion to Ano Mera, just eight kilometers from Chora. There you will admire the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani of the 18th century, known for its marble sculptures and the magnificent iconostasis. About 500 meters is the Monastery of Paleokastro, in one of the greenest parts of the island.
Visit the Folklore Museum of Mykonos
Dive into the history of Mykonos with Cycladic costumes, traditional instruments, historical paintings and old photos of the area. It consists of three separate historic houses. The first includes a renovated kitchen and a bedroom of the 19th century, the second is known as the “House of Lena” and the third is the Agricultural Museum, next to the Windmills and presents the rural history of the island.

It is the perfect destination for shopping, but if you do not intend to waste money, you can just walk around the windows of famous houses, souvenirs and handmade jewelry in the heart of Chora. A wonderful ride that does not cost at all!
